Meet the Candidates
NYC UPA presents the following candidates for elected Offices for 2013 - 2014:

President
Experience: Since moving to NYC in May 2011, I have been a member and ardent fangirl of NYC UXPA, but it was only later that year when I became an active volunteer by way of assembling the speaker panel and helping to organize "World Usability Day 2011: Designing for Social Change" at Bloomberg. Since then, I’ve made myself useful by lending my management and communication skills to coordinating our monthly events, and regularly composing email blasts and website copy to connect with our members and boost interest and engagement in our organization.
Vision: In addition to upholding the caliber that our previous leadership have worked so hard to cultivate, my goal as a new officer will be to strengthen our community engagement. As we solidify NYC UXPA’s core offerings, we look for ways to provide more value to our members, such as launching a Mentorship Program and facilitating more networking opportunities. We also strive to grow our community and engage new volunteers by identifying and harnessing all the knowledge, skill, and passion they have to not only help us carry out our organization’s mission, but to help them grow as UX professionals as well.

Statement: Having spent the past 3 years as a volunteer and watching everything that goes on has given me the insights to understanding what it takes to make things happen. Then there's my professional experience which includes doing design, ux, biz dev, web development and lots of socializing. 2. Maor Aran
Independent Consultant
Statement: Maor has been an active member and volunteer with NYC UXPA since 2010. His varied background includes film production, where he learned to guide viewers’ emotional experiences through storytelling. He now uses those same skills in his design studies, to facilitate users’ emotional engagement with designs through the stories they tell. As Vice President, Maor will support the President in growing UXPA to be a leading voice of making humanity better both online and offline.

Arun Sriramineni
VP, User Experience Lead, JP Morgan Chase
Statement: I have been an active member and volunteer since 2009 and have managed the RSVP's for events and focused mainly on maintaining the membership database, having played a key role in migrating it from an excel based format to an online version. I am also actively involved with other local and national organizations that are truly focused on community based activities. I am excited and welcome the opportunity to serve as Treasurer of NYC UXPA.
